Tulsa Hard Rock redesigns after roof collapse

Almost one year ago, snow and ice from a winter blizzard caused a portion of the roof at the Hard Rock Casino to collapse.
Thanks to an alert employee, the bingo hall area was evacuated and no one was injured. The calamity spurred a redesign rather than a repair.
Instead of repairing the older part of the casino, Cherokee Nation Businesses opted to add a third hotel tower.
Tulsa City Councilors to Talk Trash Tonight

Tulsa city councilors will answer your questions about changes to trash service tonight. A public forum at the council chambers in downtown City Hall is set for 6 p.m. Council Chair G.T. Bynum said the council is hosting the public hearing in an effort to keep citizens informed.
Now, the council is weighing a decision on whether to allow the Tulsa Public Facilities Authority to fund the purchase of solid residential waste carts, costing up to $14.5 million.
The Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy (TARE) requested the council approve the purchase so it could award the contract to a company that did not include the option of providing carts in its bid.
Tulsa police mistakenly destroy gun

Tulsa police say they accidentally destroyed the alleged murder weapon in the case of an Oklahoma man who is to be retried for the death of a Tulsa couple. The Tulsa World reports the missing evidence could allow Phillip Anthony Summers to avoid the death penalty.
Officer Jason Willingham says an internal investigation found the gun allegedly used in the shooting death of Shelly and Ples Vann. Jr. had been mistakenly destroyed because of a clerical error.
Tulsa philanthropist passes away

A Tulsa philanthropist has died at the age of 86. Jack Zarrow, a native Tulsan, founded the Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation in the 80s. The foundation offered support to Tulsa area non-profit agencies.
Zarrow is survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren and one great-grand daughter. Services for Zarrow will be held at Congregation B’nai Emunah at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
